Are HP 301, 300, and 304 inks the same?

HP 301 inks are not the same as other cartridge numbers such as the 300 and 304 inks, and can't be used in the same printers. When HP manufactures a new printer, they normally produce a new cartridge number to go in that machine, and different cartridge numbers are not normally interchangeable. Some older models of HP printers do have multiple cartridge numbers, but this isn't the case for newer models. If you are at all unsure, always check the product page to see which printers the ink cartridge will work in.

What's the difference between HP 301 and HP 301XL inks?

The difference between HP 301 and HP 301XL inks is that the 301 is a standard cartridge that prints fewer pages and costs less than its XL counterpart, meaning it is the cheapest HP 301 ink cartridge.
There is no difference between the physical size of each cartridge if you held them next to each other, the difference is between the volume of ink contained in each of the two cartridges with the HP 301 having 3ml of ink and the HP 301XL has 8ml of ink.
Whilst the HP 301XL is more expensive to buy than the standard-sized cartridge, the cost to print each page is much lower, meaning it is cheaper in the long run but has a more expensive initial cost.

What is the returns policy and how do I return a cartridge?
We want you to have the best experience possible when shopping with TonerGiant. With over 20 years’ expertise, our friendly support team is here to help get you printing again quickly. You can arrange to return a product through our returns form, or by calling us on 0345 365 3605.
If your product becomes faulty
  • Original Cartridges: Return for a refund or replacement for up to 12 months.
  • Compatible cartridges: Return for a refund or replacement up to 3 years.
Please contact us a soon as possible to request a returns number and arrange a free collection.
If you change your mind - 30 Days to return:
  • You have 14 days from delivery to arrange a return and an additional 16 days to return the items to us once arranged (30 Days in total).
  • Ordered incorrectly? We’ll provide a returns number and address for you to send to.
  • Wrong item arrived – We’ll arrange a free collection of the incorrect product(s) and send a replacement.
After 14 days, you may still be able to return the product, but a 20% restocking fee will apply. After 30 days, returns are at our discretion.
Please note: Printer cartridges must be returned unopened, unused, with all seals intact and in a resalable condition, or returns may not be accepted.

How Long does HP 301 ink last?
HP 301 and 301XL inks can last up to 2 years providing they are kept in their original packaging and stored in a dry environment, away from any humidity.
Once opened, ink will dry out quicker and it's recommended that they are used within 12 months.
Is it worth buying HP 301 XL inks?
Yes. HP 301XL inks have a lower cost per page (the total cost divided by the maximum number of pages it can print) versus the HP 301 standard inks. HP 301 XL inks can print more than 2.5 times the number of pages, therefore they will save you up to £18 compared to buying the same amount of ink in the standard sizes. If you print frequently and don't mind the extra cost, they are worthwhile.
Can I refill HP 301 inks?
Whilst it is possible to refill HP 301 inks, it's not recommended. Once Original HP inks are empty, the software on the cartridge chips are stamped with an empty status, preventing them from being reused, unless they are reset by professional equipment. Refilling cartridges is also a messy process and leakages are common, risking damage to your printer.
How much does delivery cost and how long will it take?

The cheapest option when looking for original HP 301 inks is the standard sized 301 black and 301 tri-colour cartridges which offer a cost per page or around 19p when used together. If you want an even cheaper option, then opt for the high quality compatible 301XL alternatives which offer a cost per page of just 7p.
