What's the difference between original and compatible HP ink cartridges?
HP original ink cartridges are those manufactured by HP to work with specific HP machines and compatible ink cartridges are inks manufactured by a third party company that are often a lot cheaper than original cartridges.
Whilst original HP cartridges generally offer consistent results every time you print, depending on where you buy them some compatible brands can be inconsistent and not worth the savings. Our TonerGiant compatible HP inks are manufactured to the highest standards to produce superb colour prints, so are a great option if you're looking to keep costs down.
Are HP XL ink cartridges worth buying?
HP XL ink cartridges are worth buying if you print frequently or if you want to save more money in the long run. XL cartridges often contain double the volume of ink to their standard ink counterparts but also being cheaper than buying two standard sized inks giving you a lower cost overall.
How do I install HP printer ink?
To install HP printer ink, make sure the printer is switched on, open the cartridges door and the cartridge will move into view. Depending on the type of cartridge (square or thin), either press down to release the cartridge, or press / lift its clip to release it. Remove any protective tape or covers from the new cartridge and insert it into the printer in the correct colour slot. Click it down, or clip it in and then close the printer cover. The cartridge will then be installed.
How long does HP printer ink last?
HP ink cartridges can last up to 2 years before drying out if you store your cartridges in a cupboard until you need to use them. HP inks contain a sponge inside that holds the ink and can dry out if left for long periods of time, depending on the humidity of where you keep them.
Each cartridge has an expiry date on the box/cartridge when you receive them, and whilst cartridges can still be used after that date, the quality of the prints may have deteriorated.
Can I use any type of Ink for my HP printer?
No, you will need to buy ink cartridges that are designed to work correctly with your specific printer model. When a printer has been released by HP, they also manufacture a new range of ink cartridges that will only work in various printer models, usually from the same printer series.
