Q
Hi i have used in my printer(M401dn) for a long time generic toners with the code HCF280X/CE505X .Because i work in a public service they provide us a lot of genuine toners with the same-almost code : HP CE505XC and HP CE505XD. 05XD..Are they the same?Because when i tried using CE505XC although it appears (I think) the same it is not fully inserting in the appropriate position and it feels like there is an obstacle in the back of the printer.I didn't try force it because i am afraid of causing any damage.I didn't try yet the CE505XD and decide to ask your professional team....Thank you in advance. You are doing an excellent work....Waiting fot your answer??

Hi there, thanks for your question.

I'll do my best to explain and help.

The brand of generic / compatible toners that you've previously used HCF280X/CE505X indicate that that cartridge can be used in 2 very different printer models. They can be used in your M401dn but also printers that take the CE505X such as the LaserJet P2055. Unfortunately the original HP CE505X aren't interchangeable and won't work / fit in both M401DN and P2055 printers.

For your M401dn you will only be able to use the CF280X original HP cartridges which is why you're having trouble trying to install the CE505X cartridges.

Also just to add, the CE505XD has the 'D' which denotes a dual pack but the 'XC' is a contract toner which will only work in printers that are 'managed print' machines (toners provided under a contract).

So, to summarise, you need to make sure you use a HP CF280X toner and that you are only given one that is an 'X' and not and 'XC' (XD which are the dual packs, are fine).

I hope this helps, but if you have more questions let me know.

Thanks,

Stu.

Q
I need a toner cartridge for my HP LaserJet Pro 400 M401dne It should have a big curved recess on the front. I ordered this toner from 2 different suppliers who were showing that picture, but on both occasions I received a toner which does not have a curved recess I ordered HTCCE505X/CF280X But I received HTCCE505X/280X Strange that identical "mistake" happened with 2 different suppliers. I tried to put that toner into my HP LaserJet Pro 400 M401dne , but I can not close the printer flap behind it. Do you have HTCCE505X/CF280X ? I do not want a third HTCCE505X/280X.

Thanks for your question. It sounds like both of the suppliers that you previously used are using the same manufacturer and you basically got the same or similar product. I can also see from the references that the cartridge represents 2 ranges of cartridges (CE505X and the CF280X). These go in very different printers which could be why the shape isn't correct for your machine.

We don't list ours against both machines / models so our cartridges are only manufactured for your machine. For that reason I don't think you'll have the same issue. However, I'll ask one of the team to check with the manufacturer and come back to you asap.

Q
Hi, I've got the HP laserjet pro 400, do you do additional discounts?
09 March 2017
A
Hi Frank, you've come to the right page to find toners for the HP Laserjet Pro 400 printer, do you mean additional discounts as in multi-buy discounts where we reduce the price of each if you buy more than one? If so we do that, you can find the multi-buy discounts by clicking on the product page and looking over near the price or by hovering over the buy more and save icon. If you mean do we offer discounts for large purchase quantities, we can do that. If you'd like to leave a number we can call you to discuss or you can call us on 0345 365 3605.

Q
What's the cost per page for each of the original toners?
09 March 2017
A
Hi Chris, the cost per page will vary dependent on the current price but you're looking at around 2-3p per page for the HP 80A (CF280A), just under 2p per page for the HP 80X (CF280X) and the dual pack of cartridges would be around 1.7p per page. These are all estimates because depending on the kinds of things printed the efficiency of the toner cartridges will reduce and costs could increase.
