What is the returns policy and how do I return a cartridge?
We want you to have the best experience possible when shopping with TonerGiant. With over 20 years’ expertise, our friendly support team is here to help get you printing again quickly. You can arrange to return a product through our returns form, or by calling us on 0345 365 3605.
If your product becomes faulty
  • Original Cartridges: Return for a refund or replacement for up to 12 months.
  • Compatible cartridges: Return for a refund or replacement up to 3 years.
Please contact us a soon as possible to request a returns number and arrange a free collection.
If you change your mind - 30 Days to return:
  • You have 14 days from delivery to arrange a return and an additional 16 days to return the items to us once arranged (30 Days in total).
  • Ordered incorrectly? We’ll provide a returns number and address for you to send to.
  • Wrong item arrived – We’ll arrange a free collection of the incorrect product(s) and send a replacement.
After 14 days, you may still be able to return the product, but a 20% restocking fee will apply. After 30 days, returns are at our discretion.
Please note: Printer cartridges must be returned unopened, unused, with all seals intact and in a resalable condition, or returns may not be accepted.

What toner does the M281fdw use?
Your M281fdw printer needs either HP 203A or 203X toners to work correctly. Both original and compatible cartridges can be used. Other toner numbers such as the 207A can't be used, as they aren't designed to work correctly in this machine and the software on the cartridge chips is different.
How much does delivery cost and how long will it take?

Does the hp m281fdw toner go bad or expire?

HP M281fdw toners do have a 2 year expiry date on the box / cartridge. Toner technically doesn't expire but the software on the microchips may go out of date after that time. The only way the toner can go bad, is if the cartridge has been opened, in which case it will last around 6 months because toner can absorb moisture due to humidity, or if the sealed box is stored somewhere damp or humid. It's always best to store the M281fdw toner sealed in its box or in a very dry and warm area.

Hello, can you confirm how you keep the 3rd party toner up-to-date for the Colour-Laserjet-Pro-MFP-M-281fdw to prevent HP from de-activating your printer? Secondly, do you have a recycling scheme to return the spent cartridges for reuse or recycling? Thanks, James.

Hi there,

Our cartridges will come very up to date and will work correctly as we quarantine any stock that have issues due to HP updates. The best way to make sure that compatible cartridges continue to work correctly in the printer is to switch of automatic updates. You can do that via the printer's menu, in the setup > service > LaserJet Updates > manage updates section.

Can you tell me the cheapest option for colour cartridges for HP Colour LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw? Is there a bundle I can buy rather than individually? If so does a black have to be included?

Hi there, the cheapest bundle we have on offer is our own brand pack with the part number "RECF540APACK" which does include the black at a cost of £209.36 inc VAT, if you'd prefer to use HP then the cheapest pack we offer is the "CF540APACK" at £255.34 inc VAT which does include the black. If all you require is the colours then the best option would be to buy them individually as this would be cheaper for you.

I have an HP Laserjet and recently purchased my first set of replacement cartridges (not from you) and decided to save money by purchasing compatible cartridges. The print quality is now fuzzy and no longer sharp. I can only assume this is due to a problem with the compatible cartridges as the print quality before with HP cartridges was excellent. I'd like to take advantage of the cost savings of compatible cartridges but am now put off by the experience I have had so far. Can you offer any advice and redeem my faith in compatible cartridges?
