Toner Cartridges for the HP Colour LaserJet Pro M255dw

When you print regularly, opt for an X product that offers higher page yields, there are high-capacity cartridges named 207X. These offer more pages than standard-sized cartridges. As an example, if you choose a standard-sized black cartridge, you can expect to get around 1,350 pages. Now if you choose a high-capacity cartridge, that more than doubles to 3,150 pages. These cartridges are recommended if you frequently use your printer.

Q
How do I change the M255dw toner cartridges?
24 June 2024
A

Changing the HP M255dw toner is very easy to do and doesn't need a technician. Firstly, remember to remove any protective covers or strips on your new toner before you install them and follow these instructions:

  1. Open the front door of the printer
  2. Pull the blue handle to slide the cartridge tray out
  3. Pull the handle of the toner you want to change / remove
  4. insert the new toner in the correct colour slot
  5. Slide the tray back in and close the printer door.

Q
I wish to buy cartridges for my printer Ref : 207a. At the moment I only need one for the yellow colour. I need an Original HP cartridge. Can you supply this particular product? If so I will place an order and pay. Thank you, Tony.

Hi Tony, you can find the original HP 207a toner cartridge here: https://www.tonergiant.co.uk/product/HP-207A-Yellow-Toner-Cartridge-W2212A-W2212A-99590/ If you need any further help, please let us know.

Q
I would like to buy a cartridge with the chip already installed for the LaserJet Pro M255dw. Which would you recommend? Thank you.
29 December 2021
A
Hi there, thanks for your question. The cartridges that we sell all have the chips installed on them ready to place in your printer. There are 4 colours available for the M255dw and they are listed on this page in order of multi-packs (all 4 colours), then black, cyan, magenta and yellow. If you need all 4 colours, the multipacks are the best option as they are cheaper than buying 4 separate individual colours.

Q
Afternoon, I have recently bought an HP colour laserjet printer - model M255dw. The ink cartridges that it came with were product number 207A. I see you also offer model number 207X. Sorry for the silly question! Is the only difference between the capacity to print more sheets and the 207X compatible with my new printer. Best wishes, Steve.
25 October 2021
A
Hi Steve, yes the only difference between the 207X and the 207A is the capacity that the cartridge hold.

Q
Hi, I am looking for replacement cartridges for my M255dw, I see you have two offerings. Can you tell me what the difference is between pack 207x and 207A? Many thanks.
15 March 2021
A
Hi there, the only difference is the capacity of the cartridges. The 207X cartridges are just at a higher capacity, both variations will work with your printer.

Q
Hi, I asked a question about compatible cartridges yesterday for the HP M255DW. I was told that as this is new there are no compatibles as of yet. I then spoke to Josh who was really helpful. I am still, however, undecided about purchasing the HP M254Dw or the HP M255DW. It would cost me £280 for the older model as opposed to £145 for the newer model with 3 years additional warranty. I had a quick chat with an IT friend and also a work colleague who said that compatibles didn't always work. Is this a fact? Would using compatibles invalidate my warranty should I use them? There also doesn't seem to be much difference in price if I was to purchase the original toner cartridges. The prices for the 203A and 207A seem to be similar. Sorry to have to ask again but it's a tough call and I am trying to work ahead in the long run.

Hi there, that's not a problem I completely understand your conundrum!

So if you look at the full compatible 203A set (all 4 colours) against the full original HP 207A set. The price difference is currently around £74 cheaper (or 33% cheaper) for the compatibles so there is quite a saving there. For the compatible cartridges to be available for the M255DW, it might be anything up to 12 months from now before they're available (of course they could even be available in a few months but we don't have any word as of yet).

With regards to buying compatibles over originals, there are a couple of things to consider with regards to your preference on cost, quality, and warranty. The quality will never be as absolutely as perfect as the originals but will be really great (as we monitor the quality to make sure ours are high), over a year the cost of compatibles will save you a significant amount of money so if the saving is more important then having compatibles as an option is great. With regards to printer warranty, compatibles will not invalidate a 12-month standard warranty that you get with a printer because its illegal for manufacturers to do so, but they would likely not honor a 3-year extended warranty that you might get for free, even if the compatibles did not cause any fault with the printer. Original Manufacturers do not like you to use compatibles at all because cartridges are where they make their money. If you decide to use our compatibles, we offer a 3-year guarantee which covers quality, or any faults at all including faults with the printer. All you'd do is contact us and we'd arrange a technician to look at the printer and fix it for free. If they can't fix it, we'd replace the printer for you again for free under our guarantee so it's almost like a printer warranty of its own. Bear in mind, that this is something that rarely has ever happened (less than 5 times over 12 years).

With regards to compatibles not always working, that is true because its the nature of a remanufactured/recycled product to sometimes have faults but we sell lots of these products every day and we maintain a strict low failure rate (below 4.5%) with the manufacturer to make sure customers don't have issues.

So, it's really your choice but with our guarantee, you will always be covered and if any problems do occur, we always do our best to resolve them because customers are important to us. I hope this helps to make things a bit easier but if you have any more questions, let me know!
