Hi, thanks for your question. The problem you described often happens when the printer is updated.
All compatible cartridges have a chip on them that needs to match the firmware / software of the printer. What often happens is the printer gets updated by HP and it makes the information on the cartridge micro chips no longer work causing them to stop working. Compatible cartridges will still be able to be used, you just need one with up to date software on them that match the printer software and to make sure you don't update the printer again.
Generally, we can have the microchips updated if a printer update causes a problem with our cartridges so they tend to be very up to date. We also offer a 3 year guarantee on our compatible cartridges so if you run into similar issues, we'll happily replace them or offer a refund if you prefer.
