What is the purpose of the JC96-06292A Transfer Belt?

All laser printers contain a transfer belt or transfer roller, and the job of the JC96-06292A is relatively straight forward. A transfer belt is a kind of conveyor belt that moves the paper from the paper tray past each of the toner cartridges and drum units, so that the image of your print out can be transferred on to the paper. Without a transfer belt, your paper would never move through the printer!

Whilst it’s function in your printer is very simple, it’s an integral part of any printer and a very delicate one. When handling it, make sure that the dark film material is never touched as it can easily be damaged by finger prints or other marks and need to be replaced again, costing you more effort and printer down time.

Will I be able to install this myself?

The idea of replacing mechanical parts of a printer can be very daunting, especially when there’s no clear information in your instruction manual telling you how to do so, or even where in the printer the JC96-06292A transfer belt should go. You might be wondering if you need a printer technician to install a new transfer belt in your machine, but it is relatively straight forward to do and full instruction will be provided in the box by Samsung.

So that you can replace the transfer roller, you’ll firstly need to switch your printer off and unplug it from the wall, then remove the toners, waste toner collector and imaging drum from the printer. The transfer belt will be located under the top side of the printer. The current belt is connected to the printer by latches at the back that need to be released and at the front by a white lead that needs to be unslotted. Once these are removed pull the leaver at the front of the transfer belt to slide it out and replace it with the new one, doing the reverse actions to insert the connections and latches. All toners, drums and waste collection unit can then be replaced.

Hi there, yes it will work for your C480FW and it is a new Samsung part (now owned /branded HP).

Is this an original Samsung brand new transfer belt that comes into a sealed original Samsung box, or is it a refurbished part that comes into a generic box? The reason I'm asking is that I have received used items from other sellers claiming to be new. Just trying to avoid waste of time and money on both sides.

Yes, this is the original Samsung part and in new condition.

I bought one of your transfer belts a few months ago and fitted it without problems. But now a warning light has come up saying "change the transfer belt unit". Looking at the unit counter, it reads 19000 out of a Capacity of 20000. I guess there was no counter reset when I change the belt. Question now is "will the printer stop working when it gets to 20000".

Hi, thanks for your question. I believe it will stop at 20,000 but there is normally a way to reset the transfer belt count depending on the model of printer you have. You can usually find the instructions in your printer manual or there are often online tutorials but if you let me know your printer model I can try and point you in the right direction.

Hi there, my Samsung XPress C430W asked me for a new transfer belt. I bought one, and installed it, but the printer still asked for a new transfer belt. Apparently, the counter is not automatically reset. "Remaining life: 0%" is still displayed on the supplies information page. I tried the different methods of your customer questions, but no reset instructions were included with the transfer belt and a second transfer belt does not work either. Do you have any advice on how to reset the transfer belt counter specifically for this device (or the HP CLJ190 which appears to be identical)? Otherwise, I will have to throw the device away after only a year of use, as HP doesn't seem to offer printer support for my region. Marc.

Hi Marc, I've searched everywhere including the printer manual for instructions on a counter reset procedure for the C430W printer and I believe there isn't a reset procedure as such. Ie. the counter should auto-reset for you. The best thing you can try is to take the transfer belt back out and make sure everything is correctly in place again by following this instructional video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K93j4hdTpZQ

If that doesn't work, it could be an issue with the printer I'm afraid, and you may need a technician to look at it.

Hi there, I couldn't find any specific instructions (even in the printer manual) so I would imagine that it's meant to auto-reset once the new transfer belt is installed. You may need to reset the printer memory by unplugging it from the wall for 10 minutes and then switching everything back on.

Hi there, I'm sorry that didn't work I can understand how frustrating this is! Samsung isn't very good at making things like this clear but I'll do my best to get this sorted for you. I've just researched this a bit further and there is a way to reset the counter via the printer menu but we need to get it into service mode to find the correct option. The best way to do it is shown in the following video on youtube. It's explaining how to reset the fuser counter but during the video, you'll also see the menu option for resetting the transfer belt which is the one we need. Hi there, it will be the printer memory that needs to be reset. To do so, take the toner cartridge out of the printer then switch off and unplug at the wall for 10 minutes. Then plug back in, power on, and reinstall the toner which would normally reboot the memory. If you need any more help, let us know.

Hi there, it's likely that the memory needs to be reset by switching off the printer, unplugging at the wall for around 10 minutes and then plugging in and switching it back on. I have the same problem with a CLP-365W printer. However, there is no menu available on this model. How does one reset the counter, please?

Hi there, the only information I could find with regards to resetting the transfer belt on a Samsung CLP-365W printer is to open the top cover press and hold the main button wait for the 3 lights to go up, release and put the cover down again. Aside from this, the best option would be to contact Samsung technical support who will be able to guide you. Hi Karen, thanks for your question. The reason this isn't working correctly yet is that the printer hasn't reset its internal counter, so we'll need to do that to get it working again. Please follow these instructions on your printer:

1) Press MENU then #1934,

2) Use the arrow keys to navigate to the Tech menu,

3) Navigate to the 'data setup' option,

4) Select 'Clear Counts'

Is this relatively easy to change, please?
