What does the W stand for on the printer model Lexmark C544DW? I have a C544DN so I don't know if I can buy these cartridges or not?

Hi, yes you can purchase the cartridges on this page and they will work correctly in your printer. Providing the model numbers and starting letter, (C in this case) matches your printer model, the letters at the end of the model number simply represent the functions of the printer, so in C544DW it means it can duplex and it has WIFI and in your C544DN it means it can duplex but has a Network connection only.
