The Samsung CLT-R406 (Genuine Samsung product) is an essential maintenance part for your printer that is not to be confused with the toner cartridges. Its purpose is to move the toner powder from their cartridges to the paper during the activity of sending a printout request to your Samsung machine. Once your printer requires its replacement, a message will be displayed on the LCD screen such as ‘replace image drum’ or ‘replace imaging unit’. If you need a new one, we ship all products on a free next business day delivery, so you can be confident or a replacement in no time at all.
How long should the imaging unit last?
Unlike toner cartridges, maintenance parts such as the CLT-R406 will rarely need to be replaced. It would be quite a costly experience if you had to replace all cartridges and maintenance items once the printer ran low on toner so maintenance parts are created to be more robust and are able to last for a much longer period.
For example, this particular product lasts for 16000 print cycles, (where one printed page is equal to one print cycle) and a toner cartridge for the same printer can only last around 1000 prints. This means that the CLT-R406 should last for as many as 16 toner cartridge replacements before you will need a brand new one. You may even never need to replace the imaging unit if you use your printer infrequently however, if your printer is used a lot, you will need to replace it eventually.
How do I install the Samsung CLT-R406 Imaging unit?
You don’t need to be worried that installing a new imaging unit such as the CLT-R406 requires expert help from a technician because it’s very simple to do yourself and you won’t need any tools! Much like toner cartridges, this product simply slides in and out of the printer.
To install it, all you need to do is unplug the printer, open the front hatch where the toners are located, remove the toner cartridges and place them safely on a flat surface (preferably on some newspaper so not to risk any spillage marking the surface) and then remove the waste toner unit found on the left side of where the toners were. The imaging drum or unit is then sat behind the toners. Pull the existing one out and slide the new one into the same position, replace waste toner collector and toners. The new unit should now be correctly installed. For any other advice, we’d be happy to help!

Hi Guilain, no the imaging unit is only a drum. The fuser unit and transfer belt are both bought separately. If you search for your printer model and visit the page where all cartridges are listed for your machine, you will find them at the bottom of the page under the maintenance section. Alternatively, if you let me know what printer model you have, I can direct you to the correct one.
