Hi there, I've looked into this as you pointed out it's very strange, however, it's actually because the cost to manufacture the high capacity toner has come down and allowed us to lower the price of the product. The lower capacity has remained the same so the price hasn't come down, which I can only imagine is due to how many empty cartridges get returned so that they can be recycled.
