Hi, the drum unit either sits underneath or attaches to the toner cartridge (depending on the printer model) and acts as a device that uses static electricity to transfer the toner powder onto the piece of paper. The drum doesn't actually contain any toner, it is purely a maintenance device and shouldn't need to be replaced as frequently as the toner cartridges. This particular drum will last up to 25,000 prints depending on how old and efficient your printer is.
