Hello there. With regards to your compatible inks. I wanted to find out if this would affect the 3-year warranty if we use these rather than the genuine cartridges. We have just purchased a new printer, and we don't want using a compatible ink to jeopardise the warranty.

Hi, thanks for your question. It's actually illegal for printer manufacturers to invalidate a warranty because you choose to use a compatible cartridge, but this refers to the free standard 12 months warranty you get with a new printer. Unfortunately, printer manufacturers do often stipulate that extended warranties will be affected. If the printers have an extended warranty beyond the first 12 months that you paid for as an extra (or received as a promotion), they do often get away with these restrictions on those extended warranties.
To counter that, with our 3-year compatible guarantee that we offer when you buy one of our compatibles, we cover your printer. If you had a problem with your printer while using our compatible cartridges, we'd send an independent engineer and if it's deemed that our compatibles have broken your printer, we would pay for it to be fixed or replaced if necessary. If it's clear that our compatibles weren't the cause, you'd have an engineer's report to show the printer manufacturer what the fault is, so they shouldn't be able to invalidate your warranty.
I've worked here 13 years now and have only ever seen one of our compatibles causing printer issues a handful of times, and during that time we've sold close to a million compatible cartridges. It can be very frustrating for customers, but printer manufacturers often do everything they can to reduce the use of compatibles and at the end of the day we always say, it's completely your choice.
