Does the original toner in my Brother HL5140 contain iron oxide and/or ferrite? I am experimenting with transferring printed images onto glass via a low-fired kiln. The specialist paper is coated for transfer of the image which must contain the oxide or ferrite, and only the black toner used in monochrome printers. Can you confirm this is so? I have now learned from your website that my spare cartridge is TN3030, which I believed was for another printer. Thanks, Philip.

Hi, hope you're well. Brother toner cartridges contain plastic, carbon, and silica. They also have small traces of chromium, zinc, and iron, which helps with a static charge. Although manufacturers do patent their products so it's hard to know exactly what it is they contain. But as far as I can see there is no iron oxide or ferrite.
