My Brother MFCL8850 printer is asking me to replace the drum unit and the TN900 colour toners, do I have to replace everything or can I just replace the colours?

If your printer is only asking you to replace the colour toners (not the black toner) then you will only need to replace the specific colours that is is asking for. They can be bought individually and replaced individually when needed. The drum unit is one big section that holds all of the toner cartridges in the printer and so there is only one thing to replace rather than replacing for individual colours.
