How come the drum units are much cheaper and print more than the toner cartridges....am I missing something important here??

Hi, thanks for your observation. The drum units have a page capacity in a similar way to a toner cartridge as they will eventually wear out and need to be replaced however the drum units for the Oki C5400DN printer are a maintenance item and they don't actually contain toner powder. The function of the drum unit is to transfer the toner powder from the toner cartridge onto the paper as it passes through the printer. The drum units have a higher capacity as they have a longer use period and so don't need to be replaced as frequently.

Good afternoon Gary, thanks for your question! The DN simply means that the printer has two functions and that they are 'duplex', which means that the printer can print on both sides of your paper without you needing to turn the paper over (which saves money on paper) and also the 'N' stands for 'network' which means that the printer can be plugged into an office network and shared so that multiple people can easily print to it. In your printer 'TN' means that your printer is networked and it has an additional paper tray (T for tray).
