Hi there, HP 953 / 953XL cartridges are the correct cartridges to use for an HP Officejet Pro 7740 printer. If you have a message that says incorrect cartridges installed but you do have the HP 953 inks installed, it's likely that the update caused the information on the cartridge chips to stop working, they would just need to be replaced with newer 953 cartridges.

Hi, I’m considering purchasing an HP Officejet Pro 7740 printer. I know most printers only come with a limited supply of ink and so was looking to also buy some ink. I’ve seen that you sell compatible ink for this printer In a multipack at a very reasonable price but I am concerned as I’ve read on reviews of this printer that it will only work with original hp cartridges - something about their firmware on the printer itself. So, my query is, would your compatible cartridges work with this printer or not? And if I was to make a purchase and they didn’t work what could I do about them, please?

Hi there, thanks for your question. You're correct about the firmware, HP regularly update the firmware on all of their printers and this can cause the software on a compatible cartridge to go out of date, causing issues with the cartridge working correctly. Our cartridges are manufactured and checked to make sure the software is as up-to-date as possible but on occasion, the chips can go out of date if the printer is updated.
