Ink Cartridges for the Canon PIXMA MX475

The Canon PIXMA MX475 uses specific inks including one black PG-540 ink cartridge and one colour CL-541 ink cartridge. You need both black and tri-colour ink cartridges for this model to work correctly or you will need to purchase new replacement inks. Both colour and black inks are used during the printing and process, so the printer will stop working once either cartridge is empty.
Genuine Canon PIXMA MX474 ink cartridges come with a standard six-month manufacturer warranty. However, compatible inks from TonerGiant come with a huge three-year guarantee.

How long do MX475 ink cartridges last?

Standard-sized compatible and genuine ink cartridges will last for around 180 pages but if you opt for the larger XL inks, you will find that they last for around 400 pages (based on 5% coverage of the page). This means that if you print 5 pages each day on average, your standard cartridges would last 36 days, and XL cartridges would last 80 days.

Features of the Canon PIXMA MX475

This great value printer offers lots of options for connectivity through either the Canon PRINT app, Wi-Fi printing or you can print directly through Apple Airprint and Google Cloud Print. Printing speeds are impressive at 9.7ipm (images per minute) for mono and 5.5ipm in colour. This printer is really easy to set up and you should find that Apple automatically finds the printer and you won’t have to search each time you use it.

Hi Kate, the Canon MX475 takes 2 ink cartridges (1 colour cartridge and 1 black cartridge). You need both installed for the printer to work. There is Canon paper available, but it will take any paper suitable for an inkjet printer.

Can you mix the 540 black ink with a 541xl? I have tried this but the screen states 'check the ink'.

Hi there, yes you should be able to mix them with no issues. The error code refers to the contacts on the cartridge and the printer not connecting properly. If you check the cartridge and gently wipe down the gold contacts and try to reinstall. Hopefully, that will fix the issue for you. If not, you may have a faulty cartridge.
