We need to order a full set of Brother toners for our printer which has just run out, our old printer used to have drum units as well, do we need to order those too? Our printer is the Brother MFC9440.

No, you won't need replacement drum units for your Brother MFC-9440 printer, you only need replacement toners. The Brother MFC-9440 printer needs either the TN130 toners (standard sized cartridges) or the Brother TN135 toners (high capacity cartridges) and you'll need black, cyan, magenta and yellow with some toner left in them for the printer to print again. You won't need replacement drum cartridges as the drums are already built into the toner cartridges and just get replaced at the same time.
