Hi. We are getting an error message number 231-05 on our OKI C831 printer. The display on the printer also says black image drum near the end of life. If we purchase a replacement black image drum, do you think this will sort out the error when we print? Thanks for your help. Helen.

Hi there, I had a look at what the error codes refer to and the error service call: 231 - 05 refers to K reader (TC/ID) - Tag interface connection error.

This refers to a connection error with the Black. Replacing the image drum may well fix the error but I can't be absolutely sure as I've never come across this problem myself. It may simply be that you need to check that the drum / toner hasn't come loose where the metal contacts connect. I'd try that first, just in case you don't actually need to replace the drum or toner.
