Hi there, thanks for your question. CLI black ink is a dye-based ink which consists of dye suspended in water and PGI is a pigment ink which is fine powder suspended in a liquid. Pigment inks are normally better quality and have better last ability and are preferred by professional photographers whereas dye-based inks are fine for those who don't need higher quality results.
