What is Printer Toner?
Toner is a dry powder, mixed with plastic polymer particles. During printing, the powder gets electrically charged and heated, which causes it to stick to the paper. Printer toner commonly comes in the form of a cartridge that’s specifically made for your printer model and inserts directly into the printer.
What is a Toner Cartridge?
Toner Cartridges are made to work with laser printers and have been designed for large printing jobs. The cartridges have a much larger capacity than an ink cartridge which makes them perfect for a high printing volume. Plastic cartridges come in four different colours (black, cyan, yellow and magenta), and each toner usually lasts around a few thousand pages depending on the specific page yield of the cartridge and what you are printing.
Although a toner cartridge is one of the main components for printing, it still needs a little help from some other components. A drum unit for instance is responsible for transferring the toner onto the paper. Some drum units will be sold separately to the toner so make sure you check your user manual to find out if you need to buy a drum unit as well as a toner. If you would like to find out more information on how toners and laser printers work you can find out in this great blog article ‘How Does a Laser Printer Work’.
Do you offer a recycling scheme?
Yes we do, and what’s more; you get paid for it! If you would like to recycle your cartridges and you often use around 5 – 10 toners a month, you can request a free recycle bin. Here are the details on our recycling scheme. What could bebetter than getting rewarded for helping the environment?
