Canon has highlighted that it remains committed to reducing the environmental impact of all its products, which range from cameras to printers and toner cartridges.
The company has recently been recognised in the US for its commitment to efficiency, gaining the 2011 Energy Star Award for Excellence in Energy Efficient Product Design for its imageRUNNER Advance series of multifunctional products.
Following the award, Junichi Yoshitake, senior vice-president and general manager of Canon USA's Imaging Systems Group, said the company remains guided by its corporate philosophy Kyosei, which promotes harmonious living and working.
"Canon's commitment to the environment is reflected in our ongoing efforts to develop products that incorporate sustainable life-cycle planning and improved resource efficiency from the initial concept to post-consumer phases," he said.
Businesses hoping to improve their own eco credentials can take steps such as recycling their toner cartridges. A recent article for Biz Journals, citing findings from the Center for Women's Business Research, noted that female business owners have a tendency to be more concerned about their business' impact on the environment.
